Demand Response Optimization

What it does

A demand response planning tool that starts from a sample 2 MW indoor facility on SCE TOU-PA-3 and recalculates once you edit the facility profile. Some panels do not change with your inputs: the revenue range tiles and the lighting stagger schedule show fixed example values.

When to use it

Use it to see which utility demand response programs a facility profile qualifies for, estimate program revenue, and plan HVAC pre-cooling around an on-peak window.

How it calculates

• Programs are filtered for eligibility by utility and minimum load
• Program revenue = monthly credit × enrolled kW (the lower of sheddable load or 30% of peak) × 12, plus event credit × 80% of sheddable kW × event hours × events per year, plus the enrollment bonus ÷ 3
• Payback (months) = implementation cost ÷ monthly revenue potential
• Critical load = peak demand − (sheddable + shiftable). Load factor = average ÷ peak. Annual consumption = average kW × 8,760
